How do 1:1 Sessions Work?
Initial Intake Consultation (60 - 75 minutes minutes)
Your first session will be an initial intake consultation. The purpose of an initial intake consultation is to gain a shared understanding of where you are at and importantly, what you would like to get out of these sessions. I will talk you through my approach and if it’s a good fit, we will co-create a plan based on your overall goals for therapy or performance. This can take anywhere from 60 to 75 minutes.
How often will I attend sessions?
Weekly or fortnightly sessions are typically suggested, and sometimes monthly. We may work together for 8 sessions or more. Because your plan is unique to you, discussing frequency of sessions will occur during the initial intake consultation. Usually, sessions are for 45-60 minutes. The length of sessions is also dependent on you and your unique needs.
How much does a session cost?
This varies depending on funding and age. Please contact ĀHUA Psychology for this information

Will my sessions be confidential?
Everything you share will remain confidential. The only limitations to confidentiality is if you disclose any information that is perceived is an imminent risk or threat to the safety of you or another person(s). This is not a common occurrence, and whenever possible, I share my concerns with you before notifying a third party.
What if I start and don’t want to continue sessions?
You can choose to end sessions whenever you like, there is no obligation to continue with sessions. I will always open space to check in and discuss fit. I make an ongoing effort to cater to your needs, discuss alternative services, and offer referrals.
What if I’m not sure about seeing you?
Talking to someone for the first time can be a little nerve racking. If you’re on the fence, let’s have a chat to see if we’re a good fit.
