PERFORMANCE PSYCHOLOGY

Performing Under Pressure

Stress is a given in high-performance sport—but distress doesn’t have to be.

If you’re here, you probably know that handling pressure and managing the mental load of elite sport is easier said than done. That’s where I come in.

I deliver holistic, evidence-based strategies to help you thrive in amongst the chaos and perform when it matters. My mahi is about training your mind and body so that limiting thoughts and emotions can come and go—without running the show or holding you back from your potential.

Here, you’ll build the skills to perform and thrive, not just in sport, but day-to-day, regardless of what your mind is telling you.

Having represented New Zealand on the world stage, I know firsthand the demands of high-performance sport. That experience fuels my passion for helping athletes navigating a similar path.

I’ve worked with World Champions, Olympic medalists, and developing athletes, supporting them through performance challenges like:

Optimising performance under pressure
Performance anxiety, fear, burnout & stress
Returning from injury
Confidence

Motivation & mental resilience
Navigating sport/life transitions
Identity
Mental Health in Sport

If any of this resonates, let’s chat. I’d love to hear from you.

What are the benefits?

Prevent and manage burnout before it takes a toll.

Reconnect with greater purpose and a strong sense of self.

Find more joy, motivation, and meaning in the process.

What do clients say?

I’ve worked with a lot of performance psychologists who just teach you to always be positive and confident, but that’s so unrealistic and exhausting.

Taylor taught me how accept bad days without letting them get the best of me. I learned how to perform more consistently regardless of my mindset. She taught me to use challenging, often frustrating moments to my advantage - this was honestly very refreshing and calming.

Taylor was also super open about explaining the science behind everything she taught - this has helped me trust the process and continue to use and benefit from these techniques both on and off snow.”

How do 1:1 Sessions Work?

Initial Intake Consultation (50 or 80 minutes)

Your first session will be an initial intake consultation. The purpose of an initial intake consultation is to gain a shared understanding of where you are at and importantly, what you would like to get out of these sessions. I will talk you through my approach and we will decide if it’s a good fit. We will co-create a plan based on your overall needs for therapy or performance.

How often will I attend sessions?

Weekly or fortnightly sessions are typically suggested, and sometimes monthly. We may work together for 8 sessions or more. Because your plan is unique to you, discussing frequency of sessions will occur during the initial intake consultation. Sessions are for 50 or 80 minutes.

How much does a session cost?

This varies depending on funding and age. Please contact ĀHUA Psychology for this information

Is there funding available?

Gumboot Friday
If you are under 25 and struggling financially, you may be eligible for funding via GumBoot Friday. To receive funding through Gumboot Friday, please contact me through the Gumboot Friday website.

ACC
If your experience of mental health is linked to an accident or sensitive claim, you may be eligible for ACC. Please contact ACC directly to discuss. Please note I am not currently taking on ACC claims.

Private Health Insurance
Your private health insurance may fund a certain number of sessions with a registered psychologist. Please contact your insurer to find out more.

Funding through your job or sport team / contract
Your employee may be able to provide funding for mental health services i.e., EAP. Please contact your employee to see if this applies to you.

Will my sessions be confidential?

Everything you share will remain confidential. The only limitations to confidentiality is if you disclose any information that is perceived is an imminent risk or threat to the safety of you or another person(s). This is not a common occurrence, and whenever possible, I share my concerns with you before notifying a third party.

What if I start and don’t want to continue sessions?

You can choose to end sessions whenever you like, there is no obligation to continue with sessions. I will always open space to check in and discuss fit. I make an ongoing effort to cater to your needs, discuss alternative services, and offer referrals.

What if I’m not sure about seeing you?

Talking to someone for the first time can be a little nerve racking. If you’re on the fence, let’s have a chat to see if we’re a good fit.
